Aggregate Network Creation

Description
About the Course:
One of the key challenges in an implementation is creating right-sized planning networks that align with the needs of decision-makers at each planning level—whether it's scheduling production for next week or setting a sourcing strategy for next year. The fully detailed network received from the ERP may be ideal for short-term execution, but it’s too complex for mid- and long-term planning. This course explains the two types of aggregation used to simplify planning networks:
- Aggregation along the supply chain, which simplifies operations, resources, and materials by removing unnecessary elements
- Aggregation along product, location, and time dimensions, which rolls up detailed inputs into broader groupings

This course also explains how o9 uses configurable parameters in the LiveServer to create aggregate networks, so that configurators can build flexible, fit-for-purpose models without writing custom scripts. The result: faster time to value, greater adaptability to business changes, and a lower long-term total cost of ownership.

The objectives for this course are:
- Explain why we need aggregated networks for right-sized decision-making across different planning horizons
- Describe how o9's approach to aggregate network creation
- Identify how o9 recalculates key planning parameters during network aggregation
